Joyce Hanson achieved a BA and MFA and was an art educator for 25 years. Living deep in the Adirondack Mountains, surrounded by forests and lakes, her pastel paintings reflect the natural world in intimate detail. She has won numerous awards from national juried exhibitions, including the Pastel Society of America’s Enduring Brilliance, the International Association of Pastel Societies Convention, the Catherine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club’s Medal of Honor, the Richeson 75, and the Northeast National Exhibition. She is a Master Pastelist in the PSA, a Master Circle Member in the IAPS, and a juried member of the prestigious women’s professional artists’ club, CLWAC.
