Enduring Brilliance! Exhibition ONLINE
For the first time in its 48-year history, Pastel Society of America’s Annual Exhibition 2020 will be held online. It will not have a physical presence in the Grand Gallery of the National Arts Club (NAC). The Gallery of the NAC, where the exhibition has been held for all of PSA’s history, is understandably closed to the public until further notice.
All $40,000 in awards will be distributed as planned with selections made by our esteemed awards juror Marjorie Shelley, Metropolitan Museum of Art conservator and pastel expert. New awards totaling $5000 have been given anonymously by a first-time donor.
Our popular gallery events – the gallery walk-through and reception, Materials Fair, and Annual Dinner – are all canceled at this point, but we are currently in the planning stages for online events. Announcements with more information will be forthcoming.
We ask for your understanding during this very difficult time. It’s up to all of us to slow the spread of COVID-19. Everyone, including young and healthy people, should avoid large gatherings. Stay up-to-date with public health guidelines from the CDC. And, look forward to more PSA communications about online activities.

Membership Application Update
Starting January 1, 2020, individuals may apply for Associate or Signature membership status one time only per year. Multiple applications during a 12-month period will not be considered by the membership committee.
In the Mail
Proxies for the election of the 2020 Class One Board of Governors, along with membership invoices for yearly dues, are now in the mail to all 1,320 current members of the Pastel Society of America. Once more, the Board of Governors has extended voting privileges to Associate members. We appreciate and encourage the participation of the entire society in choosing its leadership.
All Governors are volunteers who generously contribute their time, skills, and funds in support and promotion of artists who work in soft pastel.
Your modest membership payment supports the society’s essential expenses, such as rent for facilities at The National Arts Club, the salary for our partime administrator, and the office administrative expenses for the Annual Exhibition and for education programs.
When your dues payment is processed, each member in good standing is automatically added to the website’s public record of official PSA membership. Don’t lose your place on the members roll of America’s oldest pastel society.
