Larry Blovits has amassed an international reputation for excellence in oil and pastel landscapes and portraits, and for teaching as college professor and workshop instructor. Every year, beginning in 1975, he has taught workshops around the states, and abroad in England, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, and Australia.
Elected to signature status in many national art organizations including the Salmagundi Club in NYC, the American Portrait Society, and the American Society of Portrait Artists. The American Portrait Society acknowledged Larry as a portrait artist of exceptional quality. Larry was also honored as a Master Pastelist by the Pastel Society of America in 1996.
Author of “Pastel for the Serious Beginner” (Watson-Guptill) and “Sketching and Drawing” (North Light), his work has been featured in numerous books and magazine articles.
Larry’s artwork has consistently won numerous major awards in national and regional competitions for both landscapes and portraiture. His artwork is represented in many permanent collections including museums, corporations, and institutions throughout the United States.
His portrait commissions include presidents of Universities, Colleges, and Corporations; Senators and Representatives; and noted professionals in the legal and medical field.
