Biography Marian Flahavin’s work since childhood has always been an expression of her love of and fascination with the human figure – most importantly the spirit, the “life” that makes the figure who it is, as well as its bone and muscle forms. Unlike many artists, she finds the exacting challenge of capturing that life the most exciting part of painting. Besides commissions, her work has been accepted and/or awarded in numerous national shows, including the Pastel Society of America, Salmagundi, American Artist’s Professional League, (Art Spirit Gold Medal for Pastel – 2007) and Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Annuals in New York City as well as the International Association of Pastel Societies Biennial and Northwest and West Coast Pastel Societies’ Annuals. Her painting was included in the PSA Invitational at the Butler Institute of American Art in 2003.
